The immune system is the body’s doctor and requires excellent nutrition in order for it to function effectively. Instead of three meals per day it is more beneficial to eat several small ones and snacks can be included as part of this plan.
Power packed immune boosting foods are usually brightly colored and the stronger and darker the shade the more vitamins and minerals the food will contain. This is nature’s way of informing us that we should notice and eat this particular treat.
Dark whole grain bread ought to be eaten regularly. While fish is good for us it contains traces of mercury so limit it to once per week in your sandwiches. Use eggs, an excellent source of protein, cottage cheese, or peanut butter (but not much because the immune system only requires nuts and seeds in very small amounts), and fill the sandwich with attractively colored salad.

A nutritious lettuce is oak leaf because it contains purple and dark green hues and has a strongish taste. Tomatoes will help detoxify the body, aiding the immune system. Cucumber releases chemicals in the brain that lift us up, therefore also aiding it because when we are happier we heal more effectively. Onion feeds the good bacteria, helping the healing process.
Artichokes feed good bacteria (Jerusalem artichokes can be eaten like fruit and have a delicate, appealing flavor). Beautifully colored fruit itself should be included daily.
Beans are excellent for the immune system and can be cooked, stored, and eaten cold later. Two particularly good types of beans are mung and aduki beans. Mung beans are a wonderful bright green and aduki beans are a dark maroon color.
Try seaweed. Have a small amount daily to increase your trace mineral consumption. Introducing new food to our diet can be exciting and experimenting with it creatively is an excellent way to reduce stress (a major cause of disease), as is any creative occupation.
Include mushrooms in your snacks and two particularly good ones are shiitake and reishi mushrooms which will powerfully boost your immune system.
Use a blender to make super shakes! You can add many medicinal foods, including ginger, garlic, spinach, salads, cabbage, artichokes and anything else that is beneficial to you. Be creative. Coconut oil is good to add for its anti-fungal properties and pressed apple juice will give a delicious sweet flavor.
Include as many different colors in your snacks as possible to ensure you are receiving a large variety of vitamins and minerals.
Consider that the immune system will not be able to function sufficiently if you don’t drink enough water to flush out the toxins. Use a water filter or reverse osmosis unit, otherwise you are pouring more toxins in the body for the immune system to deal with.
Sunshine is a major source of vitamin C, which boosts the immune system, so eat your snack outside. Half an hour per day is perfect! Remove your glasses so your eyes can absorb the sunlight.
